Founded in Portage, Michigan by James M. Wilson as a bond underwriter, the company grew into a leading regional MGA with licenses across 22 states. On July 1, 2025, J.M. Wilson was acquired by Ryan Specialty and now operates under the RT Specialty banner as part of Ryan Specialty's binding authority platform. Independent agents continue to access the same products and underwriters through the RT Specialty / RT Binding Authority infrastructure.
