IZA Seguradora
Digital-first insurance carrier serving gig workers and autonomous professionals in Brazil
Overview
IZA Seguradora S.A. is a direct-to-consumer digital insurance carrier licensed and regulated by SUSEP (Superintendencia de Seguros Privados) in Brazil, focused on personal accident and life insurance products for autonomous professionals and gig economy workers. Founded in March 2021, the company operates under CNPJ 40.004.544/0001-46 and became one of only three companies to exit SUSEP's regulatory sandbox as a fully authorized independent insurer in June 2024, alongside Pier and Darwin.
The company's technology platform enables on/off (intermittent) coverage activation, allowing delivery drivers, freelancers, and informal-sector workers to toggle personal accident insurance by the day, hour, or duration of a working shift, paying only for time actually covered. Policy issuance, claims submission, and portfolio management occur entirely through digital channels. The IZAHUB platform extends this capability to insurance brokers, providing a real-time dashboard for contract management, billing monitoring, commission tracking, and claims status across multiple client accounts via a single portal and REST API. Claims processing averages 24 hours, with a recorded minimum of 14 minutes for hospitalization claims.
IZA raised approximately BRL 34M across multiple rounds from 2021 to 2023, including a BRL 16M growth round in April 2023. Revenue grew from BRL 78K in Year 1 to BRL 1.7M in Year 2 to BRL 6M in Year 3. As of 2023 the company had surpassed 500,000 individual taxpayer (CPF) registrations, approximately 260,000 insured lives, 300 B2B partner companies, and an NPS score of 83 (Reclame Aqui, March 2026). The company is backed by Sorite, Columbia Ventures Brazil, and other angel and institutional investors.
