Overview

The International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU) is a non-profit trade association focused on insurance fraud investigation, serving Special Investigation Unit (SIU) professionals employed at insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and related organizations. Founded in 1984 by a group of insurance fraud investigators, it functions as the primary professional network for SIU practitioners globally.

IASIU delivers professional development through three certification programs -- the Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator (CIFI), the Certified Insurance Fraud Analyst (CIFA), and the Certified Insurance Fraud Representative (CIFR) -- as well as webinars, chapter-level training seminars, and an annual flagship conference that draws more than 1,000 attendees each year. The organization also publishes SIU Today, a biannual magazine and podcast for its membership, and presents annual awards recognizing outstanding investigative service.

Membership spans over 4,100 individuals from 600+ companies across 27 countries. IASIU operates through a network of regional and state chapters in North America and maintains an international affiliate, IASIU Europe, which hosts its own annual seminar series. The organization is governed by elected officers and maintains a code of ethics to which all certified members must adhere.
