ID Federation

ID Federation is a nonprofit industry consortium focused on federated identity and authentication standards for the independent insurance agency channel. Incorporated in Delaware and governed by member representatives, it serves carriers, independent agencies, agency management system vendors, and insurance technology providers.

The organization develops and maintains SignOn Once, a federated identity management platform built on SAML and SCIM open standards. SignOn Once allows agencies to access multiple carrier portals and business systems using a single set of credentials, eliminating the need for separate usernames and passwords per carrier relationship. Participating carriers receive and validate digital identity tokens in the background; users interact only with their agency management system login.

ID Federation operates through an annual membership model. Agencies using Vertafore or Applied Systems gain access to SignOn Once at no additional cost; carriers pay fees scaled to premium volume. The Board of Directors draws representatives from member carriers, agencies, management system vendors, and insurance associations.
