Overview
Harel Insurance Investments and Financial Services Ltd. is the largest insurance and financial group in Israel. Its origins trace to 1935 when Ernst and Margot Hamburger, German immigrants to Israel, founded Ha-Mishmar Insurance Agency. In 1975 the Hamburger family established Harel Insurance Company Ltd. and merged the activities of Ha-Mishmar. The company was listed on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange in 1982 and adopted its current name in 2007. With approximately four million customers, Harel operates across insurance, asset management, and credit segments and is a constituent of the TA-35 index.
