Overview
The Hanover Insurance Group is one of the largest property and casualty insurance carriers in the United States. Founded in 1852 near Hanover Square in Manhattan, the company relocated its headquarters to Worcester, Massachusetts in 1969. Formerly known as Allmerica Financial Corp., it adopted its current name in December 2005. With approximately 4,800 to 5,000 employees and more than two million policyholders, The Hanover distributes insurance exclusively through a network of independent agents and brokers.
