Overview
Genworth Financial is an American financial services company with roots stretching back to 1871. Incorporated as Genworth Financial in 2003 and taken public in 2004, the company has evolved to focus on long-term care insurance and mortgage insurance. Genworth pioneered long-term care insurance more than 40 years ago and remains one of the largest providers of this coverage in the United States. Its mortgage insurance business operates primarily through subsidiary Enact Holdings. Genworth suspended new sales of life insurance and annuities in 2016, placing those books in runoff while concentrating resources on its core LTC and mortgage insurance segments.
