Flix is a direct-to-consumer residential insurance carrier based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, operating as a fully digital platform under SUSEP regulatory approval. The carrier underwrites home insurance through a monthly subscription model beginning at approximately R$10/month, with no documentation requirements at enrollment and no cancellation penalties. Flix targets the large underinsured residential segment in Brazil, where an estimated 86% of households carry no residential insurance coverage.
The platform processes policies entirely online, with credit card payment processing and no waiting periods. Coverage includes standard perils such as lightning, fire, explosion, theft, and electrical damage, along with 24/7 emergency home assistance services including locksmith, plumbing, electrical, and glass repair up to eight uses per month. Underwriting is provided by KOVR SEGURADORA, which carries the insurance risk, while Flix operates the digital distribution and customer experience layer.
In August 2023, Flix was acquired by Grupo Zanon Holding de Franquias, the parent company of Seguralta, Brazil's largest insurance broker network. Following the acquisition, distribution expanded through Seguralta's 1,800+ broker units, with plans to scale to 5,000 franchised locations and generate R$2 billion in business volume by 2026. Flix was seed-funded in 2021 with USD 961,335 from DOMO.VC and was recognized as one of three major participants in the SUSEP regulatory sandbox.
