ENERGETIC INSURANCE
Data-driven MGU providing credit insurance products to unlock project finance for renewable energy and infrastructure.
Overview
Energetic Insurance is a credit insurance MGU focused on the renewable energy and clean infrastructure sectors. The company underwrites credit risk on contracted cash flows from solar, wind, and other infrastructure projects, allowing developers and lenders to access capital that would otherwise be unavailable due to unrated or sub-investment-grade counterparty credit.
The company's flagship product, EneRate Credit Cover, provides coverage for default risk on payments made under long-term power purchase agreements. Energetic uses a proprietary analytics platform to model project finance credit structures with granularity that standard actuarial methods do not support. Reinsurance capacity is provided by SCOR Global P&C, enabling the company to write policies across U.S. markets.
As of 2021, Energetic had placed credit insurance on projects representing over USD 70M of insured value across 160+ sites in 13 states. A notable transaction involved enabling a USD 50M credit facility from Rabobank for energy efficiency company Redaptive through an Energetic Insurance credit structure.
