Overview

Employee Navigator was founded in 2008 by George Reese in Bethesda, Maryland, with a mission to simplify benefits administration for employers, insurance brokers, and HR departments. The company has grown to become one of the leading benefits and HR platforms in the US, connecting 195,000+ employers, 7,000+ insurance brokers, and 600+ integration partners serving over 14 million employees.

The platform centralizes benefits enrollment, HR management, ACA compliance reporting, onboarding, payroll integration, and time off tracking in a single system. Key milestones include transitioning to SaaS in 2012, reaching 1 million employees in 2015, expanding to 50,000 companies by 2020, and acquiring Ease (a competing benefits administration platform) in 2023, which significantly expanded its broker and employer base.

In August 2025, Employee Navigator completed a USD 100M funding round from existing investors JMI Equity and Spectrum Equity, bringing total funding to USD 167M. In September 2025, the company acquired custom AI technology and launched an AI Plan Build tool beta in Q4 2025. Employee Navigator maintains offices in Bethesda (HQ), Frederick MD, Salt Lake City UT, Omaha NE, and Las Vegas NV, in addition to remote employees nationwide.
