Overview

Damaan Islamic Insurance Company -- operating under the brand name Beema -- is a direct-to-consumer takaful carrier headquartered in Lusail, Qatar, offering Sharia-compliant insurance across personal and commercial lines to the Qatari market. Founded in 2009 and licensed by the Qatar Central Bank (License 13/2009, Commercial Registration 43652), Beema was the first insurance company in Qatar to adopt a fully digital distribution model, enabling customers to obtain quotes, purchase policies, and manage claims entirely through web and mobile channels.

The company operates five business divisions covering retail and corporate segments, with technology at the core of its operations. Beema offers usage-based motor insurance with behavioral telematics, a dedicated salvage vehicle auction platform (beemaauction.qa) with over 300 clients, and an online quote-and-renewal system (beema-online.com). In 2025, Beema added a Sharia-compliant buy now, pay later option for insurance premium payments through a partnership with PayLater. Its mobile apps are available on iOS and Android.

Beema is structured as a public shareholding company (Q.P.S.C.) and has been listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange main market since January 2023 (ticker: BEMA.QA). Five founding institutional shareholders -- Qatar Islamic Bank, Qatar Insurance Company, Masraf Al Rayan, Barwa Real Estate Company, and QInvest LLC -- provide a strong foundation within Qatar's financial sector. The company reported 12.9% growth in net profit for FY 2025 and 6.6% growth in Q1 2026.
