Overview

Alessa is an AML (Anti-Money Laundering) compliance and fraud management software provider serving insurance companies, banks, credit unions, fintechs, casinos, and money service businesses across 20+ countries. The company delivers a modular SaaS platform that covers the full compliance lifecycle -- from customer onboarding and identity verification through transaction monitoring, regulatory reporting, and case management. More than 180 organizations rely on Alessa to detect financial crime and meet regulatory requirements.

The platform integrates into existing systems via API and can be deployed as an end-to-end compliance suite or as individual modules. For insurance clients, Alessa provides a dedicated compliance module with insurance-specific transaction monitoring for fund movements in and out of policies, AML risk scoring for underwriters, and automated generation of insurance-mandated regulatory filings.

Founded in Ottawa in 2006 under the CaseWare RCM brand, the company rebranded to Alessa in 2019. It operated independently after spinning off from SS&C Technologies in 2021, and in June 2025 was acquired by Valsoft Corporation, a Montreal-based acquirer of vertical market software businesses. Alessa continues to operate as an independent entity under Valsoft.
