## Overview

Privitar was a UK-based data privacy software company founded in 2014 by Jason du Preez and John Taysom. The company developed a data security and privacy platform enabling organizations in banking, insurance, healthcare, and other regulated industries to safely leverage sensitive data for analytics without compromising individual privacy. Privitar's policy-based approach allowed enterprises to apply privacy controls, data masking, and access governance at scale. In June 2023, Informatica acquired Privitar to extend its cloud data management platform's privacy and governance capabilities.
