## Overview

Myka is a digital insurance brokerage and marketplace serving consumers and
small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria. Licensed by Nigeria's
National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), the company operates a mobile app
that lets users compare and buy policies from more than 17 underwriters in
real time, including AIICO Insurance, Leadway Assurance, Cornerstone
Insurance, Coronation Insurance, emPLE Insurance, Rex Insurance, and
Tangerine Insurance.

The platform covers motor, health, travel, property/home, mobile phone and
gadget, business, and life insurance lines, with policy documents delivered
to customers over WhatsApp after purchase. Alongside the direct-to-consumer
app, Myka is building a referral and agent distribution network -- car
dealers, pharmacists, travel agents, and community associations who
introduce insurance products during routine commercial interactions. This
distribution model entered NAICOM's regulatory sandbox in May 2026.

Myka was founded in 2025 by Sim Shagaya, previously the founder of Konga and
uLesson, together with Muritala Ahmed and Oluwadamilola Okenla. The company
raised a pre-seed round in June 2026 led by Ventures Platform and TLcom
Capital, with participation from angel investors including Shola Akinlade
(Paystack), Ridwan Olalere (LemFi), and Olumide Soyombo (Voltron Capital).
