Heirs Insurance Group is a direct-to-consumer and direct-to-business general insurance and life assurance carrier group operating in Nigeria, distributing personal, commercial, and specialty lines through mobile, USSD, and partner channels. The group operates through three licensed entities -- Heirs Life Assurance, Heirs General Insurance, and Heirs Insurance Brokers -- and received its NAICOM operating licenses in November 2020 before launching publicly in June 2021.
The group's distribution stack centers on the SimpleLife mobile app for policy purchase and claims filing, an AI chatbot named Prince for customer support and guided purchase, and a USSD short-code (*1100#) that extends coverage access to feature-phone users without smartphones or data plans. InConnect, a partner platform, lets third-party businesses integrate with and resell Heirs Insurance Group products, supplementing the group's branch network and online self-service portal.
Gross written premium reached NGN 61 billion in FY2024, up 70% from NGN 35.8 billion in FY2023. Heirs Insurance Group is a subsidiary of Heirs Holdings, the pan-African investment company founded by Tony Elumelu, and has not raised independent venture funding. The group has complied with NAICOM's revised 2026 recapitalization requirements for both its life and general insurance subsidiaries and has announced plans to expand from a Nigeria-only operator into a regional, multi-country African insurer.
