## Overview

GeoInsure is a geospatial data and analytics platform for the (re)insurance sector, developed by Romanian earth observation company Terrasigna under the European Space Agency's Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) programme. The platform delivers satellite-derived natural catastrophe (NatCat) insights to insurers and reinsurers, covering floods, earthquakes, and landslides.

The platform combines Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) data, Earth Observation (EO) imagery -- primarily from the Copernicus Sentinel-1 A/B satellites -- and advanced geospatial analytics to produce standardized insurance-ready reports. GeoInsure supports two deployment modes: on-premises installation or web-based SaaS access, both with REST API connectivity to existing insurance systems.

Terrasigna brings over 15 years of Earth Observation research and platform development to the product. GeoInsure reached Technology Readiness Level 7 (TRL 7) by the end of the ESA project phase and has been piloted with insurance sector customers in Romania. The ESA sponsorship is a grant-based programme rather than equity funding, so the company is classified as bootstrapped.
