## Overview

gener8tor is a startup accelerator and venture firm that operates dedicated programs for insurtech and fintech startups, among other sectors. Founded in 2012 by Joe Kirgues and Troy Vosseller in Madison, Wisconsin, the organization runs programs across 50+ communities and 22+ US states, with a track record of supporting over 2,200 startups and facilitating more than USD 3B in total portfolio funding.

The Insurance and Wealth vertical, launched in 2019 in partnership with Allianz Life and Securian Financial, provides investment capital, mentorship, and industry connections to early-stage insurtech and fintech companies. Each cohort accepts five startups from a global applicant pool and delivers a 12-week hybrid program based primarily in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. The program has completed six cohorts through 2024. Additional insurance-adjacent programs include the Northwestern Mutual Accelerator and the Curql Accelerate program.

Alumni of all gener8tor programs have raised USD 1.9B+ in follow-on capital and created more than 8,300 jobs. The firm has made 143 lead investments and 287 total investments across its portfolio. In 2022, it received the Global Venture Capital Firm of the Year award from the International Trade Council.
