## Overview

Feather is a digital insurance brokerage serving expatriates who relocate to and live in Germany, France, and Spain. Founded in Berlin in 2018 by Rob Schumacher and Vincent Audoire, the company operates under the legal entity Popsure Deutschland GmbH and targets people who find local insurance systems difficult to navigate after moving to a new country.

The company distributes health, dental, personal liability, household, pet, life, disability, and car insurance to individual customers, and added a business insurance line in 2025 for companies with cross-border and expat workforces. Feather does not underwrite risk itself. It partners with carriers, including Allianz, Helvetia, and VHV, who hold the policies, while Feather runs the customer-facing quoting, sign-up, servicing, and claims-submission layer on its own platform.

Feather built an in-house modular platform, including a questionnaire builder, quote generator, and task engine, that lets non-technical staff assemble and launch new insurance verticals. This platform has supported the company's expansion from a single health-insurance product in 2018 into eight lines of business, including a car insurance launch across Spain, France, and Germany in September 2025. The company reports serving more than 100,000 customers and processing over 22,000 claims since founding.
