## Overview

eBeema is a digital insurance brokerage serving individual consumers in Nepal, offering online comparison and purchase of life and non-life insurance policies from multiple local insurers.

The platform covers health, term, life, general (non-life), travel, motor, and child insurance products, letting users compare plans side by side and complete a purchase online. Because Nepalese regulation still requires an offline medical checkup or physical survey for certain policies, eBeema schedules that step as a follow-on after the online purchase rather than as part of it. Once a policy is bought, the platform tracks it and sends payment and expiration reminders, and it supports claims filing for policies purchased through it.

eBeema was founded in 2015 by Yurop Man Shrestha and Tenzing Doleck, with the idea originating after the April 2015 Nepal earthquake exposed how under-insured the population was. The platform was built and launched on April 29, 2016 by Yakamoz Technology Private Limited, with eBeema operating as the consumer-facing brand rather than Yakamoz. It describes itself as Nepal's first online insurance portal. In September 2022, eBeema signed an institutional agency agreement with AJOD Insurance Company Limited to distribute AJOD's general insurance products, extending a set of insurer partnerships it has held since its 2016 launch.
