## Overview

B-Prost is a core insurance system solutions provider for property and casualty (P&C), life insurance, and mutual aid (kyosai) companies in Japan. Founded in December 2003, the company focuses exclusively on the insurance industry, combining insurance domain expertise with systems engineering to develop, implement, and maintain policy administration and related core systems for Japanese carriers, small-amount short-term insurance providers, and related organizations.

The company offers two principal software frameworks: BIMs, a next-generation insurance system framework built on a service-oriented, microservices architecture with a NoSQL document database and integrated business rules engine; and BIMsEC, a cloud subscription platform for insurance e-commerce and online policy administration. Its proprietary BEXT Engine allows business professionals to define rate calculation, underwriting checks, and data transformation logic using Excel-based syntax rather than traditional programming, reducing system change cycles for insurers. B-Prost holds ISO 27001 (ISMS) and Privacy Mark (P-Mark) certifications. The platform supports both on-premises and SaaS/cloud deployments and covers the full insurance lifecycle from policy underwriting and claims handling to agent management and BI analytics.

Over more than 20 years, B-Prost has completed over 200 insurance and mutual aid projects. In May 2026, it became a subsidiary of Nippon Steel Solutions Corporation (NSSOL), with the acquisition targeting AI-enabled modernization of non-life insurance core systems. Prior to that, B-Prost entered a capital partnership with NTT Data Intramart in December 2021 and jointly offered the BIMs framework for APAC markets beginning in April 2022.
