## Overview

AmTrust Financial Services is a multinational specialty property and casualty insurance company founded in 1998 by George Karfunkel and Michael Karfunkel. Headquartered at 59 Maiden Lane in New York City, the company focuses on niche commercial segments including small commercial businesses, specialty risk, extended warranty, and specialty middle-market property and casualty insurance. AmTrust operates through approximately 7,000 employees globally and manages more than 500,000 small commercial policies in force across over 400 eligible business classes.

In 2018, AmTrust completed a go-private transaction with private equity funds managed by Stone Point Capital alongside the Karfunkel-Zyskind family, delisting from NASDAQ after twelve years as a public company. In December 2025, AmTrust and Blackstone Credit and Insurance (BXCI) closed a strategic transaction to spin off certain MGA and fee-based businesses in the U.S., UK, and Continental Europe into ANV Group Holdings Ltd., a newly formed independent entity. AmTrust entered into a ten-year capacity agreement with ANV to remain the underwriter for the existing books of business offered through those MGAs.

AmTrust holds an A- (Excellent) rating from AM Best and reported revenues of approximately USD 6.2 billion in 2024, with a 5.87% market share in the U.S. workers compensation market. The company was recognized by Forbes as one of Americas Largest Private Companies as of November 2024. In February 2026, AmTrust rebranded its specialty risk unit as AmTrust Risk Solutions, consolidating warranty, specialty insurance, and structured risk capabilities under a single brand.
